"Dating new testament documents" Lecture given by Peter Eyland at ISCAST (NSW) in May 2011. ISCAST Abstract: Dating NT documents has been a controversial matter at times, with some giving very late dates and others very early dates. In this talk various factors such as their physical, written and textual properties are discussed. This will include the materials, the ink, multi-spectral imaging and carbon dating. It also includes construction and provenance, calendric complexity, writing styles and transmission of various text types and versions.

"Letters of Introduction" were used by early Christians within Greek speaking Egypt to help identify them when travelling between communities. They usually carried the letter with them and it provided credentials to help them complete their purposes. |
